Build IT: With Ben - Quilt Ladder Racks for Joanne

Build IT: With Ben - Quilt Ladder Racks

When I first announced that I was going to leave my career and be a self employed woodworker, my good friend Joanne, in support, asked if I would make quilt racks for her.

She is a quilting fiend!

I agreed, and it only took me four months to do it! These are a pretty quick build, and would be good to spend a day or two jamming out multiples. each rack consists of 2 1x6" oak boards, 6 feet long. Two legs 2.5" wide, and 5 rungs 1.5" wide. everything is bolted together with 1/4 - 20 threaded inserts and 1.57" connector bolts.

It feels all little like cheating to make these with bolts, but I was thinking both about having to move with these, and how to deliver/ship them. I felt that the "knockdown" idea would be best. these can be disassembled, and re assembled rather quickly, and they still look really good! Let me know in the comments if you've made something similar, what you did differently, or if you make your own after watching this video.
